Chrysler Discusses Possibility of a Diesel 300

We've heard a lot of positive feedback regarding the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel and RAM 1500 diesel truck. Our Chrysler luxury sedan fans have been wondering recently if a plan is in the works for a diesel powered 200 or 300. With increased fuel efficiency and higher resale value, it's no surprise the popularity of diesel models is on the rise.

There has been speculation recently that diesel models are in fact in the works for the American automaker. Saad Chehab, head of the Chrysler brand, confirms the rumors, saying they are thinking of bringing a diesel option to the Chrysler 300. Although it's still in the discussion phase and might not been seen for a couple years, it's exciting to discuss.

VM Motari is responsible for the diesel engine in the Grand Cherokee and in Europe, drivers can experience the company's 300 V-6. If this engine enables a Grand Cherokee to attain 30 miles-per-gallon on the highway, we are excited to experience the type of fuel-efficiency it will give the 300. Although because of stricter emission standards, more development is required before the vehicle reaches us.

We'll be sure to keep you informed if any further updates are released regarding Chrysler's diesel models.
